Late 3rd to late 2nd millennium BCE. Ht.21cm. Perspex Mount
This object forms part of an important group of tools and weapons discovered on the alluvial plains of northeaster India. The first published account features a barbed harpoonnot dissimilar to this (1822). The lack of ancient wear and damage suggest objects in these hoards were used as status symbols or for ritual rather than being functional weapons.
